Research on Climate Change Adaptation by Indigenous Peoples in the Republic of Congo
As part of a regional study on indigenous peoples and climate change adaptation in Africa, RFUK coordinated desk and field research for the Republic of Congo, in collaboration with Congolese NGO Forum pour la Gouvernance et les Droits de l’Homme (FGDH) and local indigenous peoples’ organisations.

In Search of Land Laws that Protect Forest Peoples in the DRC - Full Report (French)

The need to clarify land and forest tenure has been increasingly recognised by policy makers in recent years as an essential precursor to better forest management and governance. Our new analysis of the land tenure regime in DRC highlights the lack of protection and security of land rights for forest populations and indigenous peoples, and provides practical recommendations for how this can be achieved through various reforms.

Study on the compatibility of CAR legislation with the provisions of ILO Convention 169 (in French)

Following the Central African Republic's (CAR) ratification of the International Labour Organisation's (ILO) Convention No. 169 on indigenous and tribal peoples in August 2010, the Rainforest Foundation UK in collaboration with the CAR High Commission on Human Rights and Good Governance, local NGOs, indigenous representatives and the ILO has produced a first study into the conformity of the CAR legislation with the convention. The study reviews all relevant national laws and makes specific recommendations on how best to harmonize CAR legislation and ILO C169.
