Mapping For Rights Web Site Privacy Notice

Mapping for Rights & the Rainforest Foundation UK take your privacy very seriously and are committed to protecting your personal information online. Both Mapping for Rights & the Rainforest Foundation UK use varied technologies as part of our strategy to discover and inform. As such, cookie technology may be implemented as part of the site. At no time is private information you have given us, whether stored in cookies (persistent) or elsewhere, shared with third parties who have no right to that information.

Mapping for Rights & the Rainforest Foundation UK have a strict policy of not sharing any personal data with any third-parties. The information we gather is not sold, given to, or otherwise shared with other organisations for commercial or any other purposes. If you do not wish to have persistent cookies stored on your machine, you can turn them off in your browser.

If you are under 18, be sure to obtain your parents' or guardians' permission before you send any information about yourself (your name, address, e-mail address, etc) to us or anyone else over the internet. We encourage parents to get involved with their children’s use of the internet and to be aware of the activities in which they are participating.

Below are examples of what we do with your information:

When Reading or Downloading Web Site Information:

We may collect and store information for statistical purposes. For example, we may count the number of visitors to the different pages of our web site to help make them more useful to the user. For each visitor to our website, our web server automatically recognises only the visitor's domain name (its IP address), but not the e-mail address. This information helps us generate broad demographic statistics on what types of organisations or users are visiting the site, which pages they visit and for how long. This helps us to determine how many individuals use our site, how many people visit on a regular basis, which pages are most popular, and which pages are least popular. This information does not identify you personally.

When Sending E-Mail:

By sending us an electronic mail (e-mail) message, you may be sending us personal information such as your name, address, and e-mail address. We may store this information in order to respond to your request or otherwise resolve the subject matter of the e-mail. Remember that e-mail is not necessarily secure against interception. If your communication is very sensitive, you might want to send it by a more secure method.

When Registering:

Only authorised users will be able to access certain sections of the website, particularly those related to community geo-referenced information. If you wish to gain authorisation to access these pages, or are invited to do so, you may be asked to fill in a registration form.  Mapping for Rights may collect and securely store the personal information that you provide and may use this information only in connection with specific activities, such as, petitions, campaigns, feedback or email newsletter subscriptions. Registered users can always review and amend the personal data held by Mapping for Rights and the Rainforest Foundation UK by emailing us at MappingForRights@rainforestuk.org
